through Portugal. I wanted to make something easy.
So I decided to go for simple, round placemats.
It's a basic circle pattern, using double crochet.
I like the result, the vibrant colours are quite cheerful.
But now I'm thinking I might turn them into...
a blanket (another one, yes!), with the big circles connected by smaller ones.
This was the result at the end of my trip...
It's an ideal pattern for relaxing by crocheting. In the train, on a terrace... My travel equipment consisted of a market-bag-turned-into-yarn-bag and my crochet hook cosy made from animal friendly, vegan faux leather by Namaste.
I'm quite sure you do! ;-)

Thanks for taking a peek here.
Have a great day.
Lovely placemats! Which will look equally nice as a blanket. My friend Cornel made a throw from squares that she joined with tiny squares - I think she might have blogged it at www.ilovepom-poms.squarespace.com, and another friend is busy with the same, joinng large African Flowers with small circles.
ReplyDeleteFor sure I hook while travelling...have done that on various beaches, tried my very first throw while visiting Namiba, and completed a bag while visiting Austria/Ireland over December. Makes nice holiday memories :-)
Good morning , my dear!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice for me to wake up reading my posts and e-mails. I have enjoyed very much your travel's crochets - I do the same everytime, do you know? - I'll wait a little anxious for your new idea , the blanket . And one thing more: these amazing and delicate handmade bobbin lace from Portugal, we have the same here in Ceará , a Brazil Northeast's State. This is a traditional tecnique brought to the discovery of Brazil by Portuguese. Interesting...
So...when you could , please visit my blog, you'll make me happy .

Those circles are beautiful! I think they would make a spectacular blanket! I tend to take my knitting when on vacation because working on house shoes is simple and doesn't require many supplies. Have a nice day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore your colour choice. Stunning? What kind of brand is the yarn? Is it cotton? It looks really soft.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I did take my crochet/knitting with me. Whenever I had a little bit of time I sneaked in some crafty relaxation time!
