The first blanket and sunshine

Thank you for your kind and encouraging comments on my last post.
It means a lot to me that you take the time for reacting
- and that you liked my blanket ;-) - so thanks!

Meanwhile I managed to catch of bit of the glorious sunshine
in our little corner of the world.

A good book, a throw - in this case, the first one I ever crocheted, with the the first granny square I ever crocheted... and it shows ;-), sunshine and tea. Life can be good.

Enjoy.

Summer

Finally summer has arrived in The Netherlands,
and what a difference it makes.
(We simply skipped spring this year. Why bother?)

Some snapshots from the terrace...

The elderflower is blossoming and I simply love it.

Mint tea and crochet to make a sunny day off complete.

PS. A big thank you to Madelief for the sweet mention on her amazing blog. She has a stunning garden I can only dream of... And I do!

Curl up!

Hopefully you've enjoyed your weekend.
Did you have time for reading or crocheting at all?
I did... I actually started another crochet project
(unplanned and it's rather big too...)
of which I'll show you a sneak peek in a few days time.

ByHaafner, pink flowers, peonies, terrace

Right now, when I look outside, it's autumn,
but still I'm happy because there are flowers everywhere... Finally.
(The picture above was taken on a much sunnier day than today.)

Inside - it is definitely spring!

These pictures are from a smaller project,
with tunesian crochet.
Tunesian crochet work tends to curl - a lot.
Hence the pins in the picture below.

I like the texture though, it's a bit squishy.
And the technique is easy to learn when you're used to crocheting.
Have you ever made something with tunesian crochet?

Take care!

The Good Life & Some Escapism Too

What a lucky coincidence: having a couple of days off,
while the weather is actually quite nice.

ByHaafner, pompons, bunting, pastels, neon pink, urban garden, container garden

I just had to spend some time in our very petit urban garden...
And since I had time on my hands, I decided it could do with some
pompomifying.

So there I was, a grown up woman,
spending several hours of her life making pompons like crazy.
- Oh oh. Is that escapism or what? -

ByHaafner, teatime, Maroccan teapot, email tray, Turkish glasses

Of course there was tea to be enjoyed...

ByHaafner, pink pelargonium, flowers, bright, mat, plaid, urban garden

These pelargoniums are such a bright shade of pink, it's hard to get a decent picture them. Love them though.

The plaid on the bench is actually a mattress I bought in South East Asia
(without the stuffing).

One more picture of the pompon bunting doesn't do any harm, does it...?

A love for cornflowers

Who isn't swept away by the beauty of a cornflower?
I'm even not that much into blue, but cornflowers... Wow.

I guess that feeling of being swept away is often enhanced by the surprise of seeing them suddenly somewhere on the road side.

Especially when accompanied by poppies.

There's no surprise seeing these particular cornflowers,
Since I sew them myself...

The drawings are taken from this secondhand book I found in a thriftstore: Wilde planten in bos en veld.

My little container garden is flooded with pansies.
(They're not all on the photo - just in case you're wondering 'flooded...?')
They're still blooming (since March!).
I love the colours. Hence the pompons...

It doesn't come anywhere close to the delicate colours of the real thing - but it was fun going through my yarn to pick the colours.

Container gardens #4

If the first signs (and the weather forecast) aren't fooling me,
there are a couple of sunny days on their way to The Netherlands.
Good - that means that I can finally make new photos of container gardens,
while they're at their best, with flowers blooming.

For the time being, I hope you enjoy these.
I made them a few weeks ago.
In between days of rain showers.

Container gardens #3

These pictures, made last week,
remind me that it is in fact possible that there is sun

in this part of the world.

Since then it seems it hasn't stopped raining...

Anyway, here's another selection of container gardens
in town that caught my eye. Enjoy!

Really like those plum & white pelargoniums.
And that pink is so bright!

Container gardens #2

Okay, so I was clearly mistaken when I thought summer had finally begun.
It's only rain, rain & more rain.
While I'm preparing tomorrow's post about a sunny treat.

Ah well!
Here's another selection of cute container gardens

From around this little Dutch town.
Shot a few days ago - hence the sun.

Hope you enjoy them!

This is simply gorgeous. And again so many gardens in one street.
Seems to be contagious... In a good way.

I love hollyhocks! See the yachts? Behind the car. ;-)
