This & That

Thanks for your kind comments on my previous post! I hope you've all had a lovely weekend. The sight of my crochet hooks is tempting me to start new projects, but I'm still working on a couple of big projects I need to finish first.
(Q: Is that your entire collection of crochet hooks? A: Nope, not by far...)

'Cause I can't you show you my works in progress yet, I'll make do with other, recent pictures that I didn't share here before.

I really like the fabric below. I'd l o v e to make a skirt out of it. Pity I don't know how to sew - yet. It's still on my to learn list. (Like proper knitting. The advantage of knitting over sewing being that knitting needle don't make as much sound as a sewing maching. Or are modern sewing machines less noisy than the old ones? (#dta!)

If you follow me on Instagram you've seen these beads already. I'm so very much in love with the colour. I think they'll make a gorgeous necklace. Come to think of it, I should really make one soon. It would be perfect for the summer. Do you use beads in your work?

I'm a bit restless at the moment and would love to travel somewhere soon but alas, obligations of daily life make me stay put for at least a while. Although I have to say I can miss my little studio when away. Because more often than not I suddenly crave to work with that hook, or that yarn, which obviously is still at home and I'm not. ;-)

Do you have any travel plans in the near future? Or maybe you're currently exploring new horizons? Which ever it is: I thank you for your visit and wish you a lovely week ahead!

  1. modern sewing machines are definitely quieter than old ones, though still not particularly quiet... But the main advantage to modern sewing machines is how much LIGHTER they are!! i love those beads, such a stunning colour

  2. Hi there! It might be true that new sewing machines are quieter than old ones. I have a very old one in my studio, a Singer with foot pedal. I cannot really say that this one it particularly loud, but definitely much more fun than my new(er) machine (got that one on my 21st birthday - and that is ages ago). I think it actually depends what table or workbench you put your sewing machine on. Fact is: you can simply take your hooks and yarn along, wherever you go, but that might not quite work out the same way with a sewing machine though...

    1. Hello Marjan, Thanks for your comment. And I can't help noticing your surname is the same name as a sewing machine brand, that's really appropriate! Thanks for your advise re. the workbench, good point, I suppose that matters a lot. When I was younger I also had one of those Singers! (Never used it though, and I gave it away ages ago, which I do regret a bit...)

Is altijd weer genieten.

  10. Pretty photographs! I do love to sew, though there are definite knitting advantages - it is portable, far more sociable and great for doing when watching television!

  11. We are off to Cornwall for our family holiday in a few weeks, a lovely part of England indeed but I'm really tempted to book a short trip to Barcelona, for me and my daughter. Lovely pictures, and that fabric is gorgeous x

  12. It's always been on my list to learn to sew. I have about 4 things that i'd love to be able to make to wear. It's just finding the time......sigh.

And...ohhhh......the shade of those beads........so so pretty. I love that shade. I love playing about with beads. It's a long time since I have. I have boxes and boxes of gorgeous beads, as I used to love making jewellery, but alas, they are all boxed away for the time being. Space is limited for me and crochet and yarn takes up a fair bit! ha ha!

Hope you are well my lovely xxxx

As always thanks for your kind words and wishing you a lovely weekend already. xh
